Ibori-Suenu Lauds Historic APC South-South Congress, Reaffirms Support for Tinubu’s Agenda

In a powerful demonstration of regional solidarity, Rt. Hon. (Mrs) Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the Member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, and Chairman of the House Committee on NDDC, has extended warm congratulations to the newly elected leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South zone.

The zonal congress, held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Dome Event Centre in Asaba, saw the re-election of Chief Victor Giadom as the National Vice Chairman (South-South). The event was marked by a historic consensus, drawing together the six Governors of the region, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other top-tier party stakeholders in a unified front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a personally signed statement, Hon. Ibori-Suenu lauded the emergence of the new Executive Committee, noting that their leadership carries the weight of advancing the socio-economic and political interests of the South-South people.

She said; “Today was a defining moment for the South-South region unfolded today in Asaba, Delta State, as the APC South-South Zone elected its new leadership.”

“In a remarkable display of unity, solidarity, and shared purpose, the six Governors of the South-South States, alongside party leaders and delegates from across the region, came together to endorse Chief Victor Giadom as leader of the zone.”

The lawmaker emphasized that the smooth transition and consensus-driven process underscore the political maturity within the party. This alignment is seen as a strategic move to consolidate the APC’s growing influence in a region traditionally known as an opposition stronghold.

“This consensus decision is more than a political outcome; it is a bold reaffirmation of the South-South’s collective commitment to the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It sends a clear message that our region is ready to stand together, work together, and move forward together for a better and more prosperous future.”
